Resilience: The Quiet Force that Keeps Us Moving

Writer: Sharllah BrewsterSharllah Brewster

Always keep going.
Always keep going.

To say it’s been a while since I last shared with you would be a gross understatement. Life, at times, has felt like it’s been on pause. But then, a moment came—a moment that felt like the first sunrise after the cloudiest of weeks. Then that one sunbeam kisses your cheek. At that moment, when its warmth reaches you, you know that there is a beautiful day ahead. Yeah, just like that.

After such a long stretch away from sharing and, more importantly, from writing to express myself—what better topic to return with than ‘Resilience’?

The Stories That Shape Us

Throughout my journey, I’ve met countless people who have shared the depths of their pasts—stories woven with laughter and loss, joy and insecurity, triumph and pain. Some memories so raw that as the words left their lips, my heart ached for the younger version of themselves—like a mother aching as she witnesses her child’s pain.

Yet, amid all their heartbreak, one thing remained consistent: their stories didn’t end there.

Each person who spoke of sorrow also spoke of transformation. They became stronger, wiser, and more intentional, shaped by their past but never defined by it. Resilience became the thread binding their experiences together, guiding them to create a life they deserved—but were never given.

The Unspoken Truth About Resilience

Resilience isn’t something we’re simply born with—it’s earned. It’s the by-product of facing and overcoming life’s hardest moments. Step by step, we build it. It’s that unexplainable strength that nudges us forward after every fall, reminding us that pausing is okay, but stopping isn’t an option.

But for me, resilience is more than just perseverance.

It’s the quiet knowing that hardens us without making us bitter. It’s the ability to take the shattered pieces of a bad experience and, instead of discarding them, create a mosaic—a masterpiece of lessons learned and strength gained.

Resilience is the beautiful irony that transforms pain into passion, tears into triumph, and exhaustion into excitement. It’s the part of me that knows I can be cracked but never broken. That I may face roadblocks, but I can always reroute, recalibrate, and keep moving toward my vision.

If You’re Struggling Right Now…

If you’re in a season where the way forward feels impossible, know this:

✅ It’s okay to pause. Reflect, analyze, and breathe.

✅ But don’t stay stuck. Don’t overthink your next step so much that you forget to take it.

✅ Maybe it’s time for a new approach. Perhaps the path isn’t blocked—maybe it’s just asking you to take a different route.

One day, you’ll look back and tell your own journeyed past to a friend, a stranger, or even to yourself in the mirror. And in that moment, you’ll hear the quiet whisper reminding you of the resilience that got you here.

Keep going. You’re stronger than you think.
